The Story
This was one of the very first holiday pieces Anabela and I created together.
The idea was simple.
I wanted something elegant.
Not overly busy.
Not filled with Christmas cliches.
Just a clean, warm design that simply wished everyone a Happy Holidays.
As we had started doing with several pieces, I also wanted to include something people could actually use.
This time it was a recipe for Feta Cheese Stuffed Mini Peppers.
If you've never made them, they're incredibly easy.
They're colourful, they're delicious, and they're perfect to put out when friends and family gather during the holidays.
That was really becoming part of the philosophy behind this collection.
I wanted every piece to offer something beyond the artwork itself.
A recipe.
A story.
A memory.
Or sometimes all three.
Looking back now, I think that's one of the reasons these pieces have stayed with people.
They weren't just holiday greetings.
They gave people something they could take into their own homes.
This exhibit also reminds me how quickly traditions were changing.
Christmas cards were beginning to disappear from our mailboxes and move onto social media.
This was one of the first holiday greetings I created specifically to share online.
It reached far more people than a traditional Christmas card ever could, but I still hoped it carried the same feeling.
A simple holiday greeting.
A recipe worth making.
And a reminder to spend time with the people who matter most.
Sometimes, that's all a Christmas card needs to be.
