The Story

This exhibit is called Broadcast, and the title seemed to fit perfectly.

If you look closely at the television screens, you'll notice that each one contains a photograph from a different part of my life at that time.

None of them were chosen by accident.

Each screen represents something that was important to me.

Some are from my years performing as a musician.

Others capture business ventures I was involved in, including a large banking project that was keeping me very busy at the time.

You'll also find one of the awards I received for my line of spices, another reminder that some of the recipes I was sharing had grown into real products sitting on supermarket shelves.

It's almost like looking through a scrapbook, except every memory is playing on its own television.

Then there's something every musician will recognize immediately.

My old Marshall amplifier.

If you've ever stood in front of a Marshall stack, you already know why it belongs in an exhibit called Broadcast.

Very few things in life broadcast louder than one of those.

It was impossible to leave it out.

Like many of the other exhibits, we also included one of my recipes.

This time it was a Greek Sumac Salad.

It's a simple salad built around fresh ingredients, and it's still one of those recipes that's easy to put together without spending hours in the kitchen.

Looking back, this piece reminds me how many different worlds I was living in at the same time.

Music.

Business.

Cooking.

Photography.

Travel.

None of them were separate.

They were all broadcasting at once.

And somehow, Anabela found a way to fit them all into a single piece of artwork.
